Description of main functionalities

The BA4 Logistics extension brings the following improvements:

Simple recording of goods in consignment warehouses

• Option to reserve a consignment warehouse for only one supplier or customer
• Control of purchasing or selling goods to or from the warehouse only from a specified supplier or to a specified customer
• Consignment Overview report — overview of warehouse movements including information about invoiced quantity

Display of information about the existence of item variants

Setting rules for deleting posted transfer order documents

• By setting a date, it is possible to prevent deletion of posted transfer shipments and posted transfer receipts from a certain date

Returnable packaging records

• Recording selected item cards as returnable packaging
• Definition of quantities of returnable packaging for selected items
• Automatic insertion and control of returnable packaging for items on documents
• Ability to track movements of returnable packaging
• Option for manual correction of the balance of returnable documents for customers or suppliers

Reports for more detailed management and monitoring of goods

• Items without movement — report lists items with no movement in a selected period and shows information about the last movementInventory overview — report calculates inventory balance as of a given date.
• A detailed list with item movements can also be displayed
• Inventory consumption report — report shows the value of consumption for a selected global dimension. A detailed list with item movements can also be displayed
• Warehouse adjustment bin — report lists the contents of the adjustment bin of a selected directed warehouse, including information about lot number, expiration date and serial number

Examples of improvements when working with the BA4 Logistics application

Supplier consignment warehouse

If you have an agreement with a supplier to invoice their goods only after you consume or sell them, you need to record the movement of “third-party goods” and provide the supplier with data for invoicing already consumed or sold goods.

In Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, it is possible to reserve a special location for goods in a supplier consignment warehouse, however, the system does not ensure control of movements in this location. The BA4 Logistics application provides the possibility to improve and make the recording of goods in a supplier consignment warehouse more accurate by allowing purchases into this warehouse only from a selected supplier.

The application also includes a report for printing an overview of movements in the consignment warehouse.

Automatic insertion of returnable packaging into documents

If for goods that you want to sell or purchase you need to record the movement of returnable packaging, you can set these packages on the card of the relevant item. Then, when creating a new purchase or sales document, you will no longer need to manually insert lines for returnable packaging; all required packaging for the goods will be inserted automatically or by using the Insert Returnable Packaging function.

Inventory consumption report

You can use the report, for example, to track material consumption by individual departments. The report shows the value of consumption for a selected global dimension, and you can also display detailed movements of individual items.

Tracking goods by locations

If you have certain goods in more than one warehouse, you can define the warehouses (locations) where the goods are stored in the My Locations fact box. This is useful, for example, when you want to sell goods that are not in stock at your branch, but you can easily find out in which warehouses and in what quantities they are available.
